Maurice Engler, LCSW-R

Psychotherapist

If you’ve found yourself stuck in patterns that feel impossible to change, you’re not alone— and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. My practice is based on remaining present in THIS moment, full acceptance of life on life’s terms, and responding to situations and feelings, rather than reacting to them.

We can practice sitting with difficult feelings, not attempting to expunge or deflect them. In this way, they can flow more naturally instead of getting stuck on the extremes. We can also explore how trying to hold onto emotions which feel good, while ignoring or pushing away unpleasant ones—keeps one perpetually disappointed. And of COURSE finding & cultivating joy, humor, serenity, and wonder wherever they are offered!

I have had over 35 years of counseling and psychotherapeutic training and experience, but I believe you have the answers to live your own best life; I can partner with you as a guide.

I have had particular experience and/or training in the following areas:

*Addiction & recovery

*Buddhist meditation practices

*LGBTQ+ identity & Lifestyles

*Work in school settings with adolescents

*Major life transitions

*Seniors & Issues around aging

*Work & career issues

*Depression/Anxiety & other mood-regulation disorders/issues

*Work in community mental health clinics w/a wide variety of diagnoses, including group supervision w/ adult and child psychiatrists present.
